Lower your risk Stroke is a national Community Pharmacy Public Health Campaign. The campaign will run for 2 months in February and March 2015. The campaign will be one of the contractual public health campaigns for community pharmacies in Wales during the financial year 2014-15. All 714 pharmacies in Wales will need to take part in the campaign and Public Health Wales and Stroke Association Wales will deal with all pharmacies on an equal basis. Read more ...

The pharmacy WINTER WELLNESS campaign is part of Keep Well This Winter (KWTW) is a national community pharmacy public health campaign the focus of which is to provide help and advice to those who may be at risk of poor health during the winter months due to the cold weather.. The campaign will enable community pharmacies to help people get ready for winter and lower any risk to their health that might come as a result of cold weather.

“Look After Your Eyes” is a national community pharmacy public health campaign focussing on improving public awareness of eye health. It recognises that community pharmacies are an accessible health resource from where patients can receive advice about eye care and be signposted to optometry services. The campaign will be run from Monday 1 July until Wednesday 31 July 2013.

Called LOWER YOUR RISK OF STROKE it is designed to help patients understand the link between hypertension and stroke and take action to lower their own risk of having a stroke.

Love Your Lungs is a national community pharmacy public health campaign which will run from Monday 12 November 2012 until Friday 23 November 2012 as one of your contractual public health campaigns. The campaign has full support of the British Lung Foundation Wales, Community Pharmacy Wales, Public Health Wales and all health boards across Wales.

This campaign is entitled One in Ten and is aimed at identifying and assisting the one in ten people in Wales who are estimated as being at risk either from stroke or from type 2 diabetes. In the briefing papers you will receive from the Health Board you will see a consultation questionnaire to go through with patients to assess their risk levels and then provide lifestyle and other advice on how to reduce those risk scores. In some cases you may want to refer patients to their GP.

This local pharmacy public health campaign to be run next week, 7th to 12th May. The campaign is being run jointly with Action on Hearing Loss in Wales, previously known as RNID. Next week is also Deaf Awareness Week with which this public health campaign is intended to coincide. The main purpose of the campaign is to promote a phone line based hearing check. There are postcards promoting the phone number for pharmacy staff to give to patients, put into dispensing bags and display on the counter.

The second national public health campaign in community pharmacies started on Monday 16th April 2012. This one is not so proactive in stores as was the previous campaign on diabetes risk awareness and does not require pharmacists involvement on all occasions. But this campaign is about the incredibly important issue of educating patients with chronic conditions.

CPW are working in partnership with Diabetes UK Cymru to organise a public health campaign in support of Diabetes Week.  The campaign is being planned to run for a two week period from the 13th June and has the full support of the Welsh Assembly Government, the Health Boards, the BMA and Public Health Wales.  The campaign will become one of the six contractual campaigns in each of the Health Boards for 2011/12.  The campaign is designed to raise awareness of the risk of developing diabetes and will provide the public with an opportunity to understand their personal risk profile.
