SERVICE CONTINUITY PAYMENTS


As contractors will be aware, from October 2019 a new payment for continuity of service will be paid to pharmacies where the Common Ailments Service is available from the pharmacy for no fewer than the proportion of days on which the pharmacy is open (including part days) specified in the table below, and this is confirmed by way of the declaration made on the WP34.
 
 
Period and Proportion of days on which the Common Ailments Service were available from the pharmacy:
 
1 October 2019 to 31 December 2019 60%
 
1 January 2020 to 31 March 2020 70%
 
After 1 April 2020 80%
 
 
Contractors achieving the required continuity of service will receive a payment of £500 for each month where the relevant target has been met.


Continuity Claims should be made each month using the WP34 to submit the detail in relation to the number of days the pharmacy was open during the month and the number of days that the common ailments service was available.
 
Following discussions with Welsh Government and NHS Wales Shared Services  in respect of pharmacies who have accidentally forgotten to submit this information (or who have submitted incorrect data), the deadline has now been extended to the end of the month
e.g. continuity data for May 2020 should be routinely included on the WP34 submitted with the May 2020 prescriptions, if however the data has been inadvertently missed off the WP34 (or completed incorrectly) the pharmacy must notify NWSSP via prescribing.management@wales.nhs.uk by 30th June.
 
Claims after this date will not be paid.
