High Risk Medicines Scheme – Quarter 4 2020/21
Contractors will be aware that in March 2020 the Quality & Safety Scheme was suspended until further notice, contractors were informed in the contractor events in November and through the newsletter that to meet the requirements of the Quality & Safety Scheme for Quarter 4 of 2020-21 they were required to complete:
- AWPD validation (carried out in November/ December 2020)
- Completion of High Risk Medicines prevalence data on Valproate dispensing
Welsh Government have now provided CPW with the information in respect of the data required:
The pharmacy will provide information on the number of patients whose prescriptions were
dispensed in the pharmacy during March 2021 where the following conditions are met:
- Use of valproate in girls and women of childbearing potential
1.1. Dispensed a prescription for sodium valproate or valproic acid
AND
1.2. Who are female
AND
- Who are aged between 13 and 45
Of the patients identified in 1, the number who participate in the Valproate Pregnancy Prevention Programme. Details of the PPP are available at
