Funding for making arrangements for self-isolating patients

Following the cessation of the requirement for patients to shield as of 16 August, the declaration on NECAF will shortly change to state:
The MUR service is suspended until April 2021 and this funding (estimated at £5.5m) will be returned to the global sum and paid as an additional fee of 7.4p per prescription item dispensed. This fee is payable to all pharmacies that confirm to the relevant health board they have arrangements in place to support patients self-isolating with no other means of collecting medicines to continue to receive the medicines they need free of charge and are ready to re-establish arrangements if necessary for shielded patients.

The declaration will still be required to be submitted monthly through NECAF.

Contractors are reminded that patients who are self-isolating are those with symptoms themselves or household members with symptoms and will be self-isolating potentially for up to 14 days.
