The Health Landscape

Recruiting MPharm Students for the summer 2020

A new Welsh Government funded resource has been launched which is available for all community pharmacies in Wales to use.

The new online recruitment platform for Health and Social Care is called ‘COVID Hub Wales’,  www.CovidHubWales.co.uk. Is has been introduced as a recruitment solution to support services responding to a rapidly changing environment.

In particular, pharmacy students are at the end of their academic studies for the year, and some are looking for local opportunities to apply their skills and support pharmacy services during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Any community pharmacy can advertise temporary and potential employment opportunities for pharmacy students during the pandemic on COVID Hub Wales by taking the 3 simple steps below:-

Action required to advertise on COVID Hub Wales

  1. Fill in the vacancy request form attached  - COMMUNITY PHARMACY VACANCY REQUEST FORM
  2. Attach a job description
  3. Email the documents to support@covidhubwales.co.uk
Your advert will appear on COVID Hub Wales.

What happens next?

  1. All pharmacy students seeking hospital and community pharmacy opportunities in Wales are now being directed to COVID Hub Wales by their schools of pharmacy.
  2. Pharmacy students browse for pharmacy adverts on COVID Hub Wales and make an ‘Expression of Interest’ via the platform.
  3. The COVID Hub support team will provide you with details of students who have expressed an interest in your advert.
  4. You must contact students and follow your own in-house interview and employment processes, with reference to this National Guidance. As the employer, the community pharmacy assumes all responsibility for fulfilling employment and regulatory requirements.
  5. There is no charge for advertising on COVID Hub Wales. However, any advert which receives an Expression of Interest, will be followed up by the Covid Hub Support team to record an outcome (i.e. if the student was rejected, appointed or ‘held’).
Notes:

  • Accuracy: please take care when completing your Job Advert text. The content of the advert will be directly uploaded to the COVID Hub without screening for spelling or other mistakes.
  • Suitable job descriptions: Some employers may have specific COVID or MPharm student job descriptions. Other suitable job descriptions may include pharmacy helper and assistant roles, for example medicines counter assistant.
